Walt Disney once said “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” And Walt was right. Over 60 years later, Disneyland has evolved to include new lands, attractions, and a second park. But what was the park like from 1955-1966 when Walt walked down Main Street and took a Rocket to the Moon in Tomorrowland? David Alpert, host of E-Ticket to Broadway, lends his Disneyland expertise to hosts Courtney and Emily as they explore the Walt years of Disneyland in Marcy Carriker Smothers’ “Walt’s Disneyland: A Walk in the Park with Walt Disney.” Marcy Carriker Smothers takes guests clockwise from Mainstreet to Tomorrowland to see the park through Walt’s eyes. Meticulously researched, the first hand accounts from Walt, the Disney family, and Imagineers, paired together with dozens of photographs from the Walt Disney Archives will make you feel like you are really there. And you will be surprised how much Disneyland has stayed the same despite its many evolutions. Be it 1955 or 2022, some things never change. As Walt also said, “Disneyland is your land.”
